Why should this player be punished?: Player ran into a shootout with a bat, and hit me (one of the shooters) with a bat, which caused me to drop my weapon, which also ended in my death over me not having a gun in my hands mid shootout

Skill issue, unfortunately. This wasn't some huge shootout, it was seemingly a 2v1 -> 1v1 and they approached from behind to kill you in the aid of their friend.
